Berkshire Regional Planning Commission
We invite you and any and all your colleagues back to BCC on May 2nd to continue this conversation. For those who did not attend the first meeting, we broke our attendants into two groups to discuss amongst themselves their individual observations, challenges and gripes that they face in their day to day operation. We asked one person from each group to document the group’s troubles and below are the common topics between the two groups in no particular order:
SHAPING THE NARRATIVE AND EXPERIENCE OF HOSPITALITY AS A CAREER
HOUSING
TRANSPORTATION
WELLNESS FOR STAFF (MENTAL HEALTH / SUBSTANCE / SAFE SPACES)
EMPLOYEE RETENTION
These are not ALL our challenges, but they are the ones that are on the front of everyone’s minds as they prepare for the season ahead and business in this community in general. These answers showed attendants and us at BCC, that the approach of how we recruit, educate and forge career paths, need to be assessed and modified to fit not only the immediate needs, but legacy we all want for our businesses and our community.
Our next meeting will be on the 2nd of May at 5:30pm – 7:00pm in the Student Connector on Berkshire Community College. As before please invite anyone you would like to this meeting so we can continue the discussion. We hope that as you continue to prepare for Summer 2023, that you think of BCC as a place to share observations, and help shape the Culinary & Hospitality landscape.
Please concisely detail your calendar description. Upon BBEC approval your event will be uploaded so that the community can be informed of your event via the BBEC calendar.
